Dighton Conservation Commission Approves Three Development Projects With Conditions
DIGHTON — June 26, 2025 — Dighton Conservation Commission approved three development applications and began work toward a conservation revolving fund at its June 26 meeting. The commission unanimously approved a notice of intent for the Almea Ridge residential subdivision at 0 William Street, conditioned on Weston and Samson providing on-site oversight during stormwater basin construction after a laboratory error in soil-type reporting raised peer-review concerns; engineer Bob Barry maintained the error did not require physical changes to the basins. A storage building for Zero Elm Street LLC at 2231 Elm Street and a photography studio and above-ground pool for Kevin and Alexander Messier at 921 William Street were also approved with conditions including native plantings, erosion controls, and pool-water pump-out requirements. The commission issued a type three negative determination of applicability for a garage proposal at 1824 Smith Street, finding the scope too minor to require a full notice of intent. Commission Chair floated a revolving fund proposal that would direct a portion of fines and filing fees back to the commission to offset enforcement costs, with draft language to be presented at the July or August meeting. Members also flagged an ongoing enforcement concern at 1901 Milk Street, where a failed septic system had been pumped by hose toward a wetland buffer abutting an active filing area containing vernal pools and a Zone 2 drinking water protection zone.
