Historical Commission · Meeting of May 12, 2026

Dighton Historical Commission approves $200 for archival preservation of glass negatives. Commission members Patricia Gailes, Rafa Delfin, Zach Caron, and Shara Costa voted unanimously at the May 12 meeting to fund Volara foam inserts and buffered enclosures for proper storage. The commission is advancing America's 250th Anniversary programming, including the theatrical production "Dighton's 1776 Vote for Independence," with large-scale reenactments planned for September 26 and 27 featuring 100 participants.

The Community Preservation Committee also approved funding for preserving town vital records and the commission is reviewing materials for a National Register application for the Mt. Hope Finishing Company and Village.
