Open Space Committee advances action plan for board review

Dighton's Open Space Committee unanimously advanced its action plan through municipal board review. Chair Jonathan Gale reported the draft plan will be sent to SRPEDD and reviewed by the Board of Selectmen, Parks and Recreation Committee, and Trails Committee, with a potential public meeting to follow. In reviewing specific goals, members discussed preserving cultural and historic landscapes despite the Historical Commission's struggle to remain active, and debated the future of the Muddy Cove Brook Dam, owned by former paint manufacturer ICI, where contamination would require remediation if removed.
Gale also noted that Glen Cabbage, newly elected to the Board of Selectmen, will continue participating in committee activities despite questions about his voting status.
