Dighton Zoning Board of Appeals approves reduced setback for Hart Street garage. The board unanimously approved a variance for property owner Gilbert Roias to construct a single-floor garage at 679 Hart Street with a 45.3-foot front yard setback instead of the required 55 feet. The board found the lot's configuration and topography created practical difficulties preventing the standard setback.
Roias appeared with his son, Shawn. The board also received correspondence regarding Massachusetts Zoning Act amendments effective July 1, 2026, which modify variance standards and protections for nonconforming uses; Attorney Marguerite Mitchell will brief the board on implications at its next meeting.
