Dighton Commission on Disability Approves Outreach Flyer, Flags Housing Survey Omissions

DIGHTON — July 3, 2025 — Dighton's Commission on Disability voted to print an outreach trifold and flagged the omission of disability housing questions from the town's active housing production survey. The commission, meeting July 3 in hybrid format at Town Hall with members Cynthia Bolan, Kevin Smith, Jonathan Gale, and Nicole Melon present, also heard that 500 branded water bottles arrived at a total cost of approximately $643, with the town administrator's office covering the balance. The ADA coordinator reported fielding 30 to 35 resident calls in the past month on topics ranging from transportation resources to IEP and 504 changes, and said she planned an informational forum for parents in late September or early October. She asked the commission to send a letter to the town administrator requesting that she be included in drafting the housing production plan, saying the current survey "really should have been" designed with disability housing questions included. The commission agreed to place the letter vote on its July 11 agenda.
