Dighton Conservation Commission Grants Compliance Certificates, Continues Four Hearings

Conservation · Meeting of January 22, 2026

Dighton Conservation Commission honored 50-year member Charlie Mello and acted on a full docket of wetland permits at its January 22 meeting. Chairman Jim Digits led a standing tribute to Mello, who died the previous week at age 91. The commission continued four active hearings, including the Notice of Intent for the proposed Bell Farm Estates 26-lot subdivision at 0 Milk Street, still awaiting a Weston and Sampson peer review, to its February 19 meeting.

It issued a Negative 3 local bylaw determination for a septic repair at 1401 Tremont Street, approved a one-year Order of Conditions extension at 1800 Smith Street, and granted certificates of compliance for Zero Elm Street LLC at 2231 Elm Street and for Joseph Baptista at 2162 Horton Street after a multi-year wetland restoration. The commission also debated its role as administering authority under Dighton's 2009 stormwater regulations, with Digits and member Paul Reynolds arguing the commission must be the first stop in the town's permitting flow chart.
