Dighton Library Awards Two Contracts to Plan B Construction Ahead of August Opening

DIGHTON — June 25, 2025 — Dighton Library Building Committee awards $63,551 in contracts to Plan B Construction for lighting and electrical work. Meeting Wednesday at the Old Town Hall, the committee voted to award Plan B a $33,551 lighting fixture contract — undercutting two direct electrical suppliers, Granite City Electrical at $37,256.67 and Northeast Electrical at $29,006 — and a separate electrical services contract capped at $30,000, replacing a previously approved award to JC Lentine that had not yet been sent. Plan B agreed to payment upon delivery rather than upfront, a key sticking point with the other vendors. The project coordinator reported the special article account has roughly $9,000 remaining and is on budget, with $22,990 in Community Preservation Committee grant funds also available after a prior contract closed with no change orders. Shelving installation is targeted for the first week of August, with a grand opening being considered for September 13 or September 27.
