Dighton Library Committee Rescinds Electrical Bid, Seeks New Terms From Vendors

DIGHTON — June 12, 2025 — Dighton's Library Building Committee unanimously rescinded its approval of a lighting fixture contract after learning the winning vendor required full upfront payment, which the town cannot make under municipal procurement rules. Committee Chair Jim Campico said both bids received for the special-order fixtures demanded payment in full before delivery, and that the committee has gone back out to bid with a mandatory net-30-days payment term, coordinated with the town administrator and town accountant. New bids from vendor Granite City were expected June 17, with a special meeting posted for June 18 at 3 p.m. to act on results. The committee also approved invoices totaling $5,533.08 and received a budget update showing approximately $21,000 in combined surplus across the special article and CPC grant accounts, with the full $200,000 HVAC grant spent down and a reimbursement request submitted the same week. A September grand opening remains the target, with shelving installation expected in August.
