Dighton Economic Development Committee Approves Minutes, Outlines Year Ahead

DIGHTON — June 23, 2025 — Dighton Economic Development Committee celebrates three town meeting wins and launches a student-produced marketing video. The committee, meeting for the first time since March, opened its June 23 session by confirming that all three of its warrant articles passed at town meeting — two loosening restrictions on home-based businesses and one establishing a personal property tax exemption for small businesses, the latter developed with the Board of Assessors. The committee begins fiscal year 2026 with a $900 budget and no carryover, after opting against hiring an outside marketing firm once the chair arranged for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School's three-year marketing program to produce a promotional video at no cost. Members also flagged 620 Spring Street, a tax-title property with more than $250,000 in delinquent taxes on industrially zoned land, as a possible candidate for a tax increment financing arrangement, noting that the town's TIF committee has never formally met. The committee's new state representative — who covers Dighton and part of Taunton — is expected to attend the next Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce meeting in July.
