Dighton Select Board Appoints Town Nurse, Authorizes Waste Contract
DIGHTON — July 9, 2025 — Dighton Select Board approves town nurse, hears housing production plan data, and clears several routine contracts. The board unanimously appointed Becca Mitchell as public health nurse on a recommendation from the Board of Health, which interviewed two candidates in June. Consultants Robert Cabral and Taylor Pres from SRPEDD presented early findings from Dighton's housing production plan, noting the town's subsidized housing inventory sits at 5.05 percent — well short of the state's 10 percent benchmark — and that a survey of roughly 170 residents showed "mixed" opinions on nearly every housing question, with concerns about tax burden and interest in senior housing as the clearest themes. The board also authorized the town administrator to sign a contract with Reworld Waste LLC, awarded a regional paper contract to WB Mason after a competing bid was found to use a different ream-count standard, and approved $250 transfer from the town historian's unspent budget to the town's 250th Anniversary Committee fund.
