Select Board · Meeting of April 22, 2026
Dighton's Select Board reorganized its leadership and cleared most FY27 Annual Town Meeting warrant articles in a lengthy joint session with the Finance Committee on April 22. Mark Pacheco was voted in as chair, with Glenn Cabbage, attending his first meeting, named clerk. The two bodies worked through the town's budget line by line before voting to recommend $360,000 from free cash to cover the FY26 snow and ice deficit, $25,000 to the stabilization fund, and $145,310.41 to correct a health insurance check-reconciliation error, among other items.
The Finance Committee voted to not recommend two police administrative vehicles totaling roughly $128,500, citing thin free cash, and the Select Board tabled the police chief's $66,000 vehicle request to its May 13 meeting, the final meeting before the warrant must be posted, directing the chief to provide a full fleet inventory and explore creative funding options. A single highway plow truck at $295,854.45 was approved on a split Finance Committee vote of three to two.
