Other Committee · Meeting of September 30, 2026
Dighton assessors corrected a Bristol County tax figure and cleared a backlog of abatements and minutes. The Board of Assessors caught an error in the town's county assessment during the September 30 meeting, with figures swinging from $7.9 million to $8 million to $24 million before members settled on a corrected $121,478.08, dated September 22, which is billed in two installments, November and May. The board also approved $424.10 in 2026 motor vehicle excise abatements, a $58.12 2025 abatement levy, a $1,421.36 2024 abatement levy, and rescinded $678.97 in abatements after one was filed under the wrong tax year.
"I made an error and I corrected it," one member said of the rescinded abatement. The board adopted a meeting schedule through June 3, 2027, approved minutes from April 22 and September 1, and signed a Massachusetts Department of Revenue certification of its roster and continuing-education status.
