Dighton assessors interview three finalists for principal assessor job

Other Committee · Meeting of September 1, 2026

Dighton assessors interview three finalists for a vacant principal assessor job paying $70,000 to $85,000. Board Chairman Bill Moore, joined by member Eric by phone and members Ralph and Karen, questioned candidates from Berkeley, Raynham and Swansea on software skills, chapter-land classification, boat excise billing and handling angry taxpayers. One candidate, Berkeley assistant assessor Lisa, said she processes roughly 115 condo inspections a year and would need to be "on the higher end" of the salary range to accept.

Raynham's Nancy Goulart, in the role since 2015, described managing an office that dropped from three staff to two. Moore reminded each candidate the board also serves as Dighton's fence viewers, mediating property-line disputes with "no budget" and, he said, a perfect record of keeping cases out of land court. No hiring decision was made; the board took no formal votes on the appointment.
