Dighton Open Space Committee Sends Plan Draft to Regional Agency for Final Formatting

DIGHTON — April 15, 2026 — Dighton Open Space Committee votes unanimously to advance its long-awaited Open Space and Recreation Plan to the regional planning agency. The five-member committee, chaired by Jonathan Gale, completed deliberations on Goal 4 of the plan at its April 15 meeting, assigning priority levels to eight action items covering zoning bylaw updates, conservation subdivisions, recreational access, and the controversial Muddy Cove Brook dam — which members flagged as outside the committee's practical scope and assigned a low priority. The panel voted 5-0 to send the updated document to SRPEDD for formatting and to distribute it to the Planning Board, Parks and Recreation, the Trails Committee, the Board of Selectmen, and the Conservation Commission for comment. The committee also cleared a six-month backlog of meeting minutes dating to November 2025. A question over whether newly elected Selectman Glenn can remain a voting member — because the Select Board is the committee's appointing authority — was referred to the Town Administrator for clarification.
